The Artiststs’ Working Group presents:

ANGELA ALES AND RONELD LORES

Wednesday October 25, 7;30PM

ALL Gallery, 307 Market Street, Lowell

The Artists Working Group will sponsor an evening with Lowell artists Angela Ales and Roneld Lores on Wednesday October 25, 7:30pm at the ALL Gallery, 307 Market Street in Lowell. Lores and Ales have been leading fixtures in the Lowell art scene for many years. Both artists were born in Latin America, Ales in Columbia and Lores in Cuba. Although both are longtime residents in the United States, their work shows an affinity with the Latin American literary strain of Magic Realism. Both artists work with the human figure, primarily the female figure: Ales’ focus is on the spiritual (“we are spiritual beings in a carnal experience”) while Lores emphasizes themes of power, sensuality, desire.

Angela Alés
Angela Alés is an artist born in Barranquilla, Colombia, of Andalusian and Lebanese descent. Alés moved to the United States in 1984 and graduated from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, in New York City. She received her MFA from the Miami International University of Art and Design. She is a dedicated student of philosophies and world religions and her spirituality has emerged as central themes in her work. She has participated in over 30 collective and individual exhibitions in the US and Central and South America.

Roneld Lores
Roneld Lores is a sculptor and painter living in Lowell.  Originally from Cuba, Mr. Lores moved to the United States at the age of eight and studied Fine Arts at New World School of the Arts and Florida International University, where he received a BFA in 1994 with a major in Ceramics & Sculpture figure. Strongly rooted in a classical foundation, his sculptures and paintings focus on the stylized female figure. His style is loose and dynamic with an evident grasp of realism. His work has been exhibited and is in private collections throughout the Americas and Europe.

The Artists’ Working Group is volunteer association of artists whose goals are to highlight the work of outstanding artists working in the greater Lowell area, stimulate a high level of artistic dialog in the region, and promote the sense of community among Lowell artists.

This is the fifth in the ongoing AWG Artists’ Speakers Series. For more information contact Geoffrey Koetsch, mailto:gkoetsch@gmail.com. For more about The Artists’ Working Group find us at Facebook.com/AWGLowell
